Since I've obviously got BIG plans for this page, while I'm busy constructing why don't you check out the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists Website which is described in detail on my Organizations Page.

"Official" Trasylol (Aprotinin) Website

Technically not an anesthetic agent (duh!) I'm presenting this here since the Bayer Corporation has put much effort into promoting aprotinin (a "serine protease inhibitor" used to prevent excessive activation of the coagulation cascade during cardiac surgery). Although the efforts are not entirely philanthropic (communists we are not!), it is quite professional and EDUCATIONAL. The "Official Website" (although I'm not aware of any serious challenges to run an "alternative" aprotinin website) presents lots of useful information. The real juicy part resides in the "Visiting Professors Forum" which you have to register to enter (don't worry no credit card required) cybernetically manned by real experts in the field (primarily cardiac anesthesiologists all of whom are very active in the SCA) with detailed responses to a host of user questions. There is also a free slide kit in powerpoint format that has biochemical and clinical details of aprotinin use (note: access the full slide kit via the visiting professors forum, NOT the limited version presented on the main sites home page). If you can't remember the dosing regimens and can't find the very detailed package insert, its posted on the net in .PDF format here.
